The state government of Wyoming wants to award free college scholarship money, to help its students earn a college degree in their own state, and remain home after graduation to contribute to the Wyoming economy.

Hathaway Scholarships

The Hathaway Scholarship for college is an amazing opportunity for Wyoming, college bound students. The Hathaway Scholarship program for Wyoming college students, awards need, and several merit based college scholarships to in-state students attending the University of Wyoming, or one of the seven, Wyoming state community colleges. For Wyoming college students, who have at least a 2.5 GPA, and an ACT score of 17, for community college, and 19 for the University of Wyoming, a good portion of their Wyoming college tuition and expenses will be paid for by the Hathaway Scholarship fund.

The Hathaway college scholarships for Wyoming students don’t require an additional application. Students just need to apply early to their Wyoming college of choice, and the scholarship amount will be awarded based on grades and test scores. Additional need based, scholarship money is awarded depending upon, the amount of unmet financial need established by a student’s college FAFSA application. College students with a lower GPA and ACT score can expect to receive 25% of the total of their unmet financial need. Students with the highest GPA and ACT scores can receive up to 100 % of their unmet need for college.

Horatio Alger Wyoming Scholarship Program

The Horatio Alger Wyoming Scholarship fund makes scholarship awards of $5,000 per year to 25 deserving college students residing in the state of Wyoming. Students must intend to earn a four-year, college bachelor’s degree, but may complete their first two years at a community college. The Horatio Alger scholarships can be used in-state or out of state by Wyoming college students. Wyoming scholarship applicants need to have at least a 2.0 GPA, but no minimum ACT or SAT score is required to receive this college scholarship.

Additional requirements for Wyoming students include, community activities, financial need, shown by family income of less than $50,000 per year, and US citizenship. The Horatio Alger Wyoming Scholarship application for college must be completed online by October 30, with all additional material mailed by that date as well. College students need to provide three separate essays describing their college education and career goals, adversities faced and overcome, and a personal comparison to a member of the Horatio Alger association. USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships

The USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships is funded by the USA Funds student loan organization, offering millions of dollars to students attending college throughout the country. Recently, 43 students of Wyoming were awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarship money for the 2008-2009 academic years. The state of Wyoming is given priority for these college scholarships, as it is one of the states USA Funds serves as a college loan guarantor.

The USA college scholarships are need based, requiring college applicants to have a family income of less than $35,000 per year, with preference given to ethnic minority and physically disabled college students. College scholarship applications for the USA Funds scholarships will be available online on October 1. Scholarship awards are substantial, at $1,500 per year that are renewable each year of college until a student graduates or reaches the amount of $6,000.
